Tag data transmission and usage

LinkedIn Insight Tag can collect data on members' visits to your website, including URLs, referral URLs, IP addresses, device and browser characteristics (user agents), and timestamps. IP addresses are truncated or hashed (for members accessing the site across devices ), and members' direct identifiers are removed within seven days to ensure data anonymity. Any remaining anonymized data is deleted within 180 days.

For more information on website functionality, please see the button layout and related interactive data.

With enhanced matching enabled, you can also send emails related to each visit. These emails are hashed on the website before being sent to LinkedIn to protect member privacy—we only match information we already have, and the rest remains unreadable. Learn more about enhanced matching on the website .

We do not share members' personal data with you; we only provide reports and alerts about the professional composition of your website's audience and advertising performance (without identifying members). We also offer website visitor retargeting services, enabling you to use this data to display personalized ads outside your website, but without identifying members. We do not use this data to analyze member profiles (e.g., inferring member interests and characteristics), but rather to better understand which ads are most relevant to members. LinkedIn members can control how their personal data is used for advertising purposes through their account settings .
